Unlikely Partners was born out of decades of work in re-entry, nonprofit, and faith communities—witnessing both the power of individual efforts and the limits of fragmentation. Too often, important work remained disconnected. For such a time as this, Unlikely Partners emerged as a unified response: one coordinated movement focused on transforming lives by transforming environments. Through aligned initiatives in youth development, health, faith, and community building and development, we bring strategy, relationship, and purpose together. By focusing on those most impacted and the systems surrounding them, we exist not just to help—but to change the trajectory of our communities for good.

Rev. Ron Shultz: I am a retired pastor, engaging in faith and justice initiative within the Akron Community. I got involved with Unlikely Partners because they strive to engage the community in ways that are deeper and more transformative than simply passing out clothes or operating free meals, which are needed but are more transactional in their approach to helping others. I want to help change the trajectory of lives in meaningful ways.
